FULL TITLE:  Eton Union and Registration District - Workhouse Births 1837-1848 and Burnham Sub District Births 1893-1897.

This booklet contains two of the many records from those created by the Eton Poor Law Union.  The first is a register of births in the workhouse between 1837 and 1848.  It is interesting in that it provides, in a number of cases of illegitimate births, the name of the reputed father.  It also contains the name of the parish to which the parent(s) belonged and, in some cases, the date of the child's baptism.  the second record within this booklet is a copy return of all births registered in the sub-district of Burnham within the Eton Registration District between 1893 and 1897.  It was used by the Medical Officer to record information on vaccinations and includes the date a notice was given to say the child had to be vaccinated, to whom it was given and the date the child was vaccinated along with any notes.  The Eton Poor Law Union was formed in 1835 and initially comprised the parishes of Burnham, Datchet, Denham, Dorney, Eton, Farnham Royal, Fulmer, Hedgerley, Hitcham, Horton, Iver, Langley Marish, Stoke Poges, Taplow, Upton cum Chalvey, Wexham and Wraysbury, all in Buckinghamshire.  In 1894 the newly created parishes of Eton Wick and Slough were added and these were joined in 1895 by the newly created parish of Gerrards Cross.  Eton Registration District was created in 1837 with the introduction of Civil Registration, the area it covered being the same as that of Eton Poor Law Union.

This booklet contains three of the many records from those created by the Eton Poor Law Union.  The first two are registers of deaths in the workhouse between 1848 and 1900.  Each entry contains the date of death, the name of the deceased (where known), age and parish to which chargeable.  Most records also contain the place of burial or the fact that the corpse was removed by a relative.  Very occasionally the name of the relative has been included.  The third record is a register of all deaths of infants under one year of age in the sub-district of Burnham within the Eton Registration District between 1879 and 1885.  It includes the child's name, age and date of death, together with the name of the child's parent, their residence and occupation. FULL TITLE:  Leighton Buzzard Union - Workhouse Births and Deaths 1858-1900.

This booklet contains a transcription of the births and deaths recorded in the Leighton Buzzard Union Workhouse registers held at Bedfordshire and Luton Archives and Records Service (formerly Bedfordshire Record Office).  All birth entries include the date of the child's birth, whether legitimate or illegitimate, name(s) of parent(s) and the parish to which belonging.  Some entries also include a baptism date.  Death entries include date, name, age and parish to which the individual was chargeable and in some cases the day and/or time of death is noted.  Leighton Buzzard Union was formed in 1835 and initially comprised the parishes of Billington, Eggington, Heath and Reach, Leighton Buzzard and Stanbridge [all Bedfordshire] and Cheddington, Edlesborough, Grove, Ivinghoe, Linslade, Mentmore, Soulbury, Slapton, Stoke Hammond and Wing [all Buckinghamshire].  Eaton Bray [Bedfordshire] was added in 1845 and Hockliffe and Tilsworth [both Bedfordshire] were added in 1899.

FULL TITLE:  Wycombe Union - Workhouse Baptisms 1853-1900.

This booklet contains a transcription of the baptisms recorded in the Wycombe Union Workhouse register held at Buckinghamshire Record Office.  Wycombe Union was formed in 1835 and initially comprised the parishes of Bledlow, Bradenham, Chepping (or High) Wycombe, Ellesborough, Fawley, Fingest, Great Hampden, Great Kimble, Great Marlow, Hambleden, Hedsor, Hughenden, Horsenden, Ibstone, Ilmer, Little Hampden, Little Kimble, Little Marlow, Little Missenden, Medmenham, Monks Risborough, Princes Risborough, Radnage, Saunderton, Stoke Mandeville, Stokenchurch, Turville, Wendover, West Wycombe and Wooburn [all Buckinghamshire].  Chinnor and Lewknor Uphill [both Oxfordshire] were added in 1845 when Fawley, Hambleden and Medmenham were transferred to Henley Union.
